
Senescent cells, aka “zombie cells” are very much alive, yet dead at the same time. They refuse to die and float around inside of us.
They are damaged or aged cells that permanently stop dividing, but remain metabolically active and secrete inflammatory chemicals. This is one of the hallmarks of aging and can be mitigated with some Senolytics.
Removing these cells reduces the secretion of toxic chemicals (known as SASP) that damage neighboring healthy tissues and drive chronic aging-related diseases. Clearing up these zombie cells will also allow better use of your energy.
Examples of Senolytics:
